Safety Planning Intervention Training

The Stanley-Brown Safety Planning Intervention (SPI) is an evidence-based brief and collaborative clinical intervention between the clinician and those experiencing self-harm and suicidal thoughts that aims to mitigate acute risk. This training is for certified licensed community behavioral health clinicians, school-based behavioral health providers, and mental health professionals who provide direct clinical services and interventions.

Part 1 | 9:00AM – 2:00PM
The first part of this workshop will provide an overview of the Stanley-Brown SPI, including who is appropriate to receive the SPI, data on SPI effectiveness, and comprehensive instruction and roleplay demonstration of how to deliver the SPI to suicidal adults.

Part 2 | 2:00PM – 3:00PM
The last hour of this workshop will describe necessary adaptations for delivering the SPI specifically to suicidal adolescents and will include a roleplay demonstration of how to involve caregivers in the intervention.
*Please note that attending Part 1 is required to attend Part 2*
